Clothing

Clothing should be simple, layered and of a neutral color, khaki or green/olive are best. Camouflage is not recommended for Africa and in some areas wearing it is illegal.

Comfortable boots or walking shoes are a must, ankle high work great. Be sure they are well broken-in prior to arrival, as blisters can ruin a safari.

Three changes of comfortable and durable bush clothes are recommended.

Bring at least one warm jacket.

You will also need a hat for protection from the sun, and a warm hat for early morning while riding in the back of the open truck.

In the evening, camp is very informal. As it gets cool, good choices would be a sweat suit or jeans and a sweater or sweatshirt.

Other clothing: Casual clothing for use prior to and after your safari:

  • Belt
  • Shirts
  • Three pair of light cotton socks
  • Swimsuit
  • Comfortable camp shoes
  • One lightweight waterproof jacket
  • Don't forget a pair of leather gloves for early mornings, and for pushing the thorny branhes out of your way while in the bush.
